We are currently living in our very own Black Mirror episode right now due to the coronavirus, but don't let that stop you from watching these thrilling sci-fi episodes that will have you questioning reality even further. With that, here are my personal favorites from the series that will have your head spinning and heart racing.
#5 Hang the DJ (Season 4, Episode 3)

Hang the DJ takes dating shows to the extreme as couples are paired up based on all of the data from their previous relationships. What's more is that their new match up has an expiration date. The reason this is one of my top picks is because of the use of technology that comes to play in the characters' romantic lives. Imagine having a robot tell you if you are a good match or not?
#4 Smithereens (Season 5, Episode 2)

Picture an Uber trip gone wrong and this episode is what you will get. This episode showcases the dangers of ridesharing apps tied in with social media. I personally liked this episode because not only was it suspenseful, but it also drew me in emotionally.
#3 Nosedive (Season 3, Episode 1)

This was the first episode of Black Mirror I ever watched and it is worth watching again. The plot is set in a world where social media and ratings dominate one's social status. People who do good actions receive high star ratings, while a simple mishap or wrongdoing may result in a very low rating and unpopular public image. I enjoyed this episode because it allowed me to reflect on how social media shapes our own lives today.
#2 Fifteen Million Merits (Season 1, Episode 2)

I don't really want to give anything away about this episode, but if you are looking for an episode that puts a very modern and sci-fi twist on a show like "American Idol," then this is the show for you. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
#1 Shut Up and Dance (Season 3, Episode 3)

This episode of Black Mirror was the second one I ever watched and it was what made me a fan of the thought-provoking series. I had never seen anything like it and that was what made it so amazing. Shut Up and Dance follows a young man who is blackmailed into completing strange, ridiculous, and even illegal tasks through text message ordered commands. In a Black Mirror fashion, these tasks eventually get super dark and crazy, allowing this episode to stand alone almost like a movie.
